Website: updates to the home page and our pricing

August 13th, 2009 by arieljake

Just finished and posted our new home page design…it’s not quite as flashy as the original design, but it does a better job of getting across how we see people benefiting from theJobDesk. It also provides visitors to the site with more screenshots, which is good because we think our application looks pretty snazzy.

Also, we ended our introductory offer pricing of $24.95. We decided on $29 for the new price because it still keeps our price point below the cost of $30, the typical price of a 3 month subscription at $10/month on competitor websites. Keeping the cost of a program like this low, especially since it is intended for people looking for work, has always been important to us, and is a reason why we chose to build a desktop program instead of a website - it keeps the company’s costs low and we pass that on to our customers.

Our first press!

July 17th, 2009 by arieljake

It was an exciting moment on Tuesday afternoon when, dialed into KCBS radio on 106.9FM, the team heard our first press:

“Looking for a job or know someone who is? Well, we now have another way to search. A new computer program released today from Mountain View based DeskMasters … Version 1.0 of a product called thejobdesk … and you can find it at thejobdesk.com. I stumbled across this thing going through today’s business press releases. The website offers a free trial which I downloaded and tested and found it to be easy to use and very complete … a good starting point for a job search. Check it out … thejobdesk.com.”

It was a great feeling for all of us to hear the outer world discussing a product we have worked so hard on. And thanks to some neat technology from woopra.com, we were able to see visitors showing up to the site in real-time. We squealed like pigs. Check out the audio in Windows media format or mp3 format.

Our thanks to John Frierson at KCBS for the vote of confidence. John found out about theJobDesk from our press release we issued Tuesday morning. You can check that out here.

Beta Is Over! We are now preparing for v1 launch.

June 20th, 2009 by arieljake

The Beta program was very successful. We got a lot of great feedback from our beta testers - thank you all very much. Fortunately, we only had one major bug that required an immediate update. All the other feedback were minor bugs and feature requests. We have chosen those that are most important and will make those updates before launch. The rest we will add as updates to our v1 release.

We are in final testing of our payment process, that last major step before we can release the product. We are aiming for a July 1st launch.

theJobDesk is launched - Beta at least

June 3rd, 2009 by arieljake

Hello World.

After lots of hard work and sweat, theJobDesk has been launched, if even only in Beta mode. We have just begun our beta program and will look to finalize our version 1 product for everyone to enjoy, feature rich and bug free. The sun is shining just a little bit brighter in the Silicon Valley, at least from this apartment window. More to come as things gain momentum.

If you are interested in participating in the Beta program, please email me at arieljake@thejobdesk.com. Thank you and talk to you soon.
